“Psychic Hygiene” – Sleep

The way you sleep can change your Future!

Psychic hygiene is a very important idea and practice to incorporate into your daily life. Like all forms of clearing and cleaning, psychic hygiene works best with a routine and on a daily basis. There are other more pointed rituals you may want to practice on specific astrological events, but for now, let’s just look at what helps with regards to a daily routine surrounding sleep and rest. I will also include some more general any-time tricks you can use.

Sleep is very important for your Future.

How, when and what you do before sleep is integral to a good night’s rest. Enjoying sleep is the first step to actualizing proper psychic hygiene. Not only can it make you feel happier, age more slowly, and look more attractive – it can also dramatically improve your psychic abilities. A proper night’s sleep will shift you out of just surviving, into thriving. You will have the extra energy you need to put into action the steps that will take your life where you want it to go.

1. Your Bedroom

I believe that following the rules of Feng Shui energetically helps you sleep. This is an ancient art which goes in and out of favor, but its effects are remarkable and long-lasting:

  • The basic thing to remember with regard to Feng Shui and sleep is that your bedroom must be clean, clear of debris, and more or less empty, no clutter.
  • If possible, your bed should never be made of metal, and you should NEVER store anything under your bed, or in drawers under your bed.
  • Keep the bedroom as bare as possible. Even if you are single, allow room for bedside tables on both sides of the bed to create harmony and balance. Use calming colors if you redecorate such as whites, or peach-family colors.
  • Never use metal furniture in the bedroom, as this conducts energy and does not support restful sleep.
  • Choose the artwork in your bedroom carefully, as the images will resonate within you.
  • If possible, place your bed with its headboard to a strong wall (never against a glass window) and allow yourself room to be able to see the door – never sleep with your legs pointing directly to the exit: the point is to make your body feel secure and not vulnerable.
  • You don’t have to micromanage every corner, but just make sure that the room “feels” right to you, and that you look forward to resting in your bed. In the end, these are just pointers and what matters is your own check-in regarding personal relaxation.

2. Your Bedtime Routine

Working with visualization techniques and clearing your chakras on a daily basis will help you clear unwanted energy and move you into a positive “flow” state.

As you make your bed before sleep and shuffle the bed linens, imagine a white and violet light protecting you as you sleep and visualize these rays infusing and calming the bed linens where you will rest. We do most of our toxic energy clearing during sleep. So, positive visualization techniques and anything you can do to “clear” the space before sleep will aid with relaxation and dropping any unwanted density.

Make a wish.

Before you lay down to rest, operate a bit on the principle, “ask and it shall be given”. Give yourself time to count your blessings, but also take time to dream, ask, and – if you feel comfortable – speak out loud so that you can hear your own truths, and how you actually feel and resonate within them.

Clear the air.

Before you close your eyes for slumber, turn to each of the cardinal points (North, South, East, West) and bless them, bowing your head. This helps to orient your body and clear any unwanted psychic energy fields.

    Close up shop.

Lastly, “close” each of your chakras before rest. This helps your body rejuvenate so that it is not working overtime in a psychic dimension while you sleep.

Your seven bodily chakras (you also have seven outside your body, but that is for a separate section we will look at later!) are energy centers at your crown, third eye, throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral, and root/base. There are varying opinions on what chakras may be visualized as – either conic, spherical, or as lotus flowers. In any case, it is recommended for you to always be aware of these energy centers as you go through life, and to know whether you are acting from a heart centered place (of love, understanding, higher vibration), or from a root chakra place (which is often associated with karmic patterning, power, fear, lust, greed and sheer ego, fight or flight mentality).

For now, before you sleep, it is important to remember to visualize sending white light to each of these energy centers, and visualize the sphere or energy center closing, just as if a flower might close for the night, and bloom again in the morning, in the same way as how tulips, crocuses, and poppies, seal up and “tuck in”.

    3. Your Awakening

This step will help your body relax, and I promise if you “tuck in” your energy centers or chakras before sleep, you will wake up rejuvenated, ready for the day, and with your energy cleared.

When you wake up in the morning, it is important to visualize the chakras opening again, and sending each energy center a ray of white and violet light through a visualization exercise. Opening up your energy again should feel brilliant, and may help if this practice is paired with a more physical activity such as yoga, or walking meditation. You may even want to consider early morning baths and visualize your chakras unfurling during a bath infused with floral essences – so you may be ready to enjoy the day and everything you have to enjoy, bless and receive in front of you.

Following these simple tips will help you get to a more holistic psychic hygienic space. And trust me, it can – and will – change your Future.
